Just a year after the Milan Quartets were completed, Mozart complete a new set of quartets in Vienna after hearing some of the quartets of Haydn. The String Quartet No. 12 in B flat Major (K. 172) follows the familiar four movement pattern of the string quartet that Mozart was now working with.
